Megauploads, one of the webs biggest file sharing sites has been shut down by authorities in the US, is this more of the same as the US start to win the war against piracy.
The websites owners are being charged with sharing pirated information which is against all piracy laws in the US. And Europe.
US prosecutors are accusing the site of costing copyright holders up to £320 million pounds in lost revenue, the website founders responded saying it always took complaints seriously and acted on them.
After a massive drive by the US to wage war on internet piracy the “hacker’s anonymous group” are targeting US authorities and waging war back.
After the recent news and the war against anti-piracy laws this should come as no shock and more sites will be expected to be investigated and closed down.
.The US Justice Department said that Megaupload's two co-founders Kim Dotcom, formerly known as Kim Schmitz, and Mathias Ortmann were arrested in Auckland, New Zealand along with two other employees of the business at the request of US officials. It added that three other defendants were still at large.
Megauploads was one of the highest organically ranked sites online with Google showing no signs of help the authorities close file sharing sites down.
