Can directory links help Google rankings?

Google looks at each site differently when gauging the power of a link, whilst most directories will not help, some will, here is a little guide to understanding what to look for when choosing good web directories. Our link builders follow these guidelines.

The directories Domain authority
Always use the SEO MOZ tool bar to check the domain authority of each directory, some have been around for year and will pass over some link juice. Then check the page you would like your link on, again there is no point if this page has no authority itself.
Choosing the page to be listed on
Check the number of out bound links on the page that will be linking to you, if the page is over saturated with hundreds of out bound links then the listing will be of no use, pass over no domain authority and will not help increase your Google rankings.
Paid directories over non-paid
Paid directories will win every time, the admin fee is not for a listing it’s there to pay the human editor behind the site to ensure the directory quality and the sites available in each sector of the directory stay in-line with the directories guidelines. Non-paid directories will usually be automated and have no quality editing in place.
Directory theme
Find directories with a thematic relation will help the site pass over more link juice, any links from non-relevant pages never help.
